Terms and Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using DraftHive (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
DraftHive is a platform that allows users to submit creative story ideas, receive AI-powered evaluations, generate cryptographic proof of authorship, and collaborate with other creators. Features vary by subscription plan (Free, Pro, Studio).
3. User Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials. You must be at least 13 years of age to use DraftHive. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Intellectual Property
You retain full ownership of all story ideas, descriptions, and creative content you submit to DraftHive. By submitting content, you grant DraftHive a limited, non-exclusive licence to display your content within the platform and to generate AI analysis and timestamps for it. DraftHive does not claim ownership over your ideas. The cryptographic hash generated at submission serves as a timestamp record only and does not constitute legal intellectual property registration.
5. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: (a) submit content that infringes on the intellectual property of others; (b) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (c) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the platform's APIs; (d) impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity; (e) use automated tools to bulk-submit ideas or manipulate votes.
6. Subscription Plans and Billing
Paid plans (Pro at $12/month, Studio at $29/month) are billed monthly through Stripe. Team membership is billed at $12/month per member. Add-on purchases (Stealth Mode activations at $0.49, video generation at $0.99) are one-time charges. All payments are non-refundable except where required by law. You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
7. AI-Generated Content
AI evaluations, pitch packages, similarity checks, and video trailers are generated automatically and may not be accurate or complete. DraftHive makes no representations about the commercial viability of any idea. AI-generated content is provided “as is” for informational purposes only.
8. Stealth Mode and Confidentiality
Stealth Mode hides your idea's description from other users but does not constitute a legal confidentiality agreement. DraftHive staff may access idea content for moderation and support purposes. Do not rely solely on Stealth Mode to protect sensitive intellectual property.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. DRAFTHIVE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DRAFTHIVE AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
11. Termination
DraftHive reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. Content you have submitted may be retained for legal and audit purposes.
12. Account Suspension (Pause)
When an account is paused by an administrator or due to a billing issue:
- The account enters a 7-day grace period. The user is notified by email immediately and again on day 6.
- During the grace period, the user may log in, view all their submitted ideas, download certified PDFs of any idea they have previously certified, and reactivate their account.
- After the grace period, the account enters read-only mode: the user may still log in and view their content but may not submit new ideas, collaborate, vote, or use paid features.
- A paused account does not affect the validity of any cryptographic proof of authorship previously generated.
13. Account Cancellation
When an account is cancelled (by the user or by an administrator):
- The user receives a 7-day download window. During this window they may log in and export all their ideas and certified PDFs using the bulk export feature.
- After 7 days the account becomes permanently read-only. The user may still log in to view their content but may not interact with the platform.
- Cancelled accounts may be reactivated within 30 days by contacting support at legal@drafthive.ca. After 30 days, reactivation is at DraftHive's discretion.
14. Data Retention and Ownership Records
DraftHive retains the following records indefinitely, even after account cancellation, for legal, ownership verification, and dispute resolution purposes:
- All submitted idea records including title, description, submission date, and author identity.
- All cryptographic hash proofs and blockchain timestamps.
- All collaboration records showing contributors, application dates, and approval status.
- All certified download records.
This retention is necessary to honour the core value of DraftHive: providing verifiable proof of idea authorship and priority of creation.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify users of material changes via email or an in-app notice.
